5 important questions to ask your wedding photographer!

So your big day is important to you, right? You want everything to run smoothly on the day so that you can relax and enjoy it. The last thing you need is to worry about your photographer, so here is a comprehensive list of things that YOU need to make sure you ask your wedding photographer!

1. What style do you specialise in?

Style is important. Whether you want really stylised photographs or not you need to talk to your photographer about their style. Too much can ruin your photos and leave you wishing for something a little toned down. A lack of style can leave your photographs looking bland and uninteresting, not something you'll cherish and enjoy for years to come.

2. How many weddings have you shot?

Although perhaps not vital, you want to at least make sure that your photographer has shot weddings before. Your photographer should be upfront and honest with you, if it is their first wedding you should be make aware and you can negotiate a price that will represent that. A lack of weddings doesn't mean a bad photographer but this question is a good way to gauge someones experience.

3. What do you include in your packages?

The last thing you want is for you to get your images back and not be satisfied. This could be due to the number of images or they might even be stuck behind a pay wall! Make sure that before you agree to your photographer that you have spoken about roughly how many photographs you'll get, too many will leave you drowning in photos but too few will leave you wanting more.

4. How long do we get you for?

You need to make sure that your photographer is going to be there when you want them. Whether you just want ceremony and group shots or you want them for the whole day make sure you ask what you are getting for your money, if necessary tell them exactly what time you need them for each part of the day.

5. Can we meet up to talk it through?

For me, this is an important one. I insist on meeting a customer before their big day to create a relationship before hand so it isn't uncomfortable when I am around them all day even in intimate moments. Your photographer is one of the only strangers you invite to your wedding to it is important to meet them before hand to make sure you are comfortable with them being around.

By all means these aren't the only questions you need to ask your wedding photographer, but these are some essential things you need to know before you commit to someone. Any queries about other questions to ask or bookings don't hesitate to contact me!
